Whitening with dental materials, as long as it is done under the supervision of a dentist, is a completely safe method that does not burden the enamel of the teeth. It relies on the application of a bleaching agent (carbamide peroxide) to the surface of the tooth that reacts chemically with the pigments and breaks them down without affecting the tooth substance. Two bleaching methods are used. The first is done with personalized transparent mouthguards that the patient wears for 1.5 to 2 hours every day for 10 to 20 days, placing inside the material supplied by the doctor’s office. The second and particularly efficient method is done with the Luma Cool Whitening System device. The procedure is completed in two appointments that each last about half an hour and the color opens gradually and in a controlled way. In both cases, cleaning and removal of extraneous pigments must precede.

They are thin porcelain flakes, like contact lenses, which can be attached to natural teeth and change their color and shape if they are crooked, too small, sparse or have large fillings. Veneers can be applied to a single tooth or to all anteriors. With this material, the dental technician has the ability to perfectly imitate the surface of real teeth with transparencies, embossed features and shape completely similar to natural ones. The treatment is completed in two appointments. In the first, the teeth are prepared (grinding of the teeth required is minimal) and the impression of the teeth is taken. In the clinic’s laboratory, our dental technicians immediately fabricate temporary veneers, so that the intervention is not visible while waiting for the construction of the permanent veneers. In the second appointment, the bonding is done with a special process that results in the surfaces becoming one with the tooth and even though they are very thin, when they are bonded they acquire the strength of the tooth. Porcelain veneers have perfect aesthetics and do not discolor with time or various pigments.

With this method it is possible to change the patient’s smile in a single session. We are able to change the color and shape of the front teeth by closing the gaps between them, visually straightening crooked teeth and correcting stains. The soft composite resins that are used, are placed on the dental surface to give the color and shape we want, and then they are photopolymerized to obtain their final hardness that is similar to the natural tooth. It is a completely conservative method since you have little or no grinding of the natural tooth.

With modern composite resin materials, teeth that have been partially destroyed due to caries or fracture are restored. White fillings have better adhesion and retention than black fillings (amalgam fillings), while the latter are in many cases responsible for breaks and cracks in the teeth. Also, white fillings have a very good aesthetic, since they are indistinguishable from the tooth in color and shape.

When a large part of the tooth is missing (greater than half of its diameter) either due to an old filling or caries, the treatment we choose is restoration with an onlay. After taking the impression of the teeth, the lab builds the missing part of the tooth with either reinforced resin or porcelain, so that the weak part of the tooth is covered. These materials are more durable than fillings and have excellent aesthetic result, while at the same time the tooth stays protected from fracture.
