INVISALIGN METHOD
INVISALIGN METHOD
The Invisalign technique was invented in America in the early 2000s and has since become very popular.
Invisalign uses clear aligners developed from computer-generated images and impressions taken from your mouth by our specialist dentist to change the position of your teeth. While the traditional brace makes use of fixed wires to “pull” the teeth into alignment, Invisalign aligns the teeth by using a series of molds that, across a series of months, force your teeth into their new and improved position. Typically the months required to complete treatment range from 9 months for minor cases and up to 18 for full cases.
The method can be applied to children from the first grades of elementary school, to teenagers and of course to adults.
Our Clinic is certified for the INVISALIGN Method.
ORTHODONTICS FOR CHILDREN
ORTHODONTICS FOR CHILDREN
According to the American Federation of Orthodontists, a child’s first visit to the orthodontist should be at age 7 with a panoramic x-ray. In this visit, the specialist orthodontist will assess whether there is an occlusal anomaly, its nature (dental or skeletal etiology) as well as the necessity or not of a first phase of orthodontic treatment (Phase I).
Usually, at this age, skeletal anomalies (e.g. mandibular prognathism, cruciate occlusion) and parafunctional teeth (e.g. finger sucking) are treated. This timely orthodontic intervention easily and quickly resolves skeletal problems (refer to the sizes and relationship of the two jaws) which in adolescence would be dealt with in a completely different and more difficult way. In addition, it creates space in the two dental arches, in order to facilitate the eruption of the permanent teeth.
In phase I of orthodontic treatment, mobile devices (e.g. braces, extraoral arches), stationary devices (e.g. rapid palate opening machine) and less commonly braces are used. The duration of this treatment is usually one year.
ORTHODONTICS FOR TEENAGERS
ORTHODONTICS FOR TEENAGERS
The orthodontic treatment of teenagers begins with the clinical examination and the consideration of appropriate radiographs (panoramic and lateral cephalometric).
The specialist orthodontist will decide if the patients needs traditional braces (metal and ceramic) or any other orthopedic mechanism, if there is a skeletal problem. The duration of the treatment is two years, monthly visits are necessary and our goal is to create a healthy, beautiful and functionally balanced mouth.
Alignment techniques with invisible braces can be used as an alternative to braces in teenagers.
