IMPLANT PLACEMENT
IMPLANT PLACEMENT
The implant placement procedure begins with the surgical stage during which supports are placed in the jawbone.
The process of placing the implants is called surgery because it requires access to the jawbone, using specialized tools in a sterile environment.
The surgical treatment is carried out with simple local anesthesia, as used by the doctor in cases of blockages, endodontic treatments and tooth extractions.
If the implant appears stable in the bone, a component of the implant remains outside of the gum and exposed to the oral environment until osseointegration is complete and the prosthetic work is placed.
If it appears unstable, bone graft is added to the patient and the implant is completely “covered” by the gums until osseointegration is complete.
A small operation, surgical or laser, is then required to expose the implant, so that the process of prosthetic implant restoration can begin.
SURGICAL EXTRACTION OF IMPACTED TEETH
SURGICAL EXTRACTION OF IMPACTED TEETH
Impacted teeth are those that have not reached the time of their normal eruption and remain inside the jaws where they are surrounded either completely or partially by bone or soft tissue. They are divided into two major categories:
IMPACTED which are completely buried and
SEMI-IMPACTED which are partially covered by hard or soft tissues and only a part of the tooth is visible.
Many years ago, human jaws have been narrowed and as a result, because these teeth do not have room to develop properly, they stay partially or completely inside the jaw, causing various problems.
The surgery needed to remove an embedded wisdom tooth is a particularly demanding oral surgery and is performed by a specialist dental surgeon or maxillofacial surgeon.
A panoramic x-ray is necessary and in some cases volumetric tomography. The x-ray will give us all the information needed for the extraction.
The operation is performed under local anesthesia. An incision is made in the gums to expose the tooth. The tooth is freed from the bone by grinding or chipping so that it can be extracted with minimal surgical trauma. After the extraction, the wound is sutured and medical treatment is given.
ROOT END SURGERY
ROOT END SURGERY
A Root End Surgery is a specialized dental procedure in which we resect the tip of the root of a tooth.
It applies when:
- endodontic treatment has failed.
- endodontic treatment has failed, for some reason the dentist is not able to repeat it
- the teeth have very large and dangerous apical lesions (eg cysts).
- the teeth have prosthetic material (crowns, bridges, etc.) that need to be protected.
During this surgery, only the root of the tooth is affected and therefore there is no impact on the aesthetic appearance of the smile. It is performed under local anesthesia and has the great advantage of saving teeth and expensive prosthetic work that would otherwise have to be extracted.
REMOVAL OF TUMORS
REMOVAL OF TUMORS
In all soft tissues of the mouth, tumors may develop, mostly after injury or as a result of benign lesion. These can be removed under local anesthesia with minor surgery and sent for histological examination, since rarely, clinical evaluation may be false. Moreover, it should be noted that the oral cavity is a frequent area where diseases occur, such as lichen planus, manifested in the form of white plaque (leukoplakia) or ulcers (wound). Their confirmation is possible by a biopsy carried out by a qualified surgeon with appropriate knowledge of oral pathology. Finally, it must be noted that rare cases of malignancy appear in the mouth, and in any case, anything that raises a concern, such as wounds that do not heal in a reasonable amount of time, should be investigated with the help of specialists.
All Oral Surgeries are performed by our specialist Surgeon Nikolaos Sakkas.
